Thrilled! In the Groove! Ecstatic Dance: A Journey From Awkward to Awesome


I'm in a room full of strangers, lights are low, and music is bumping. I'm feeling a little nervous, a little awkward, but I also feel a spark of excitement. And then, I start to move.

It's slow and tentative at first. But as the music gets going, I find myself letting go, losing my inhibitions, and just going for it. I'm spinning, twirling, grooving, and feeling the music in my soul.


I don't care what anyone else thinks (most of the time). I'm just having fun, and it feels amazing.

This is the magic of ecstatic dance for me. It's a way to connect with myself, with others, and with the universe. 

It's a chance to let go of all my worries and just be myself.


If I'm looking for a way to feel more alive, more connected, and more like myself, then I need to go dance. 


A study by the University of Oxford found that ecstatic dance can reduce stress and anxiety, boost mood and self-esteem, and improve creativity. It can also help to increase self-acceptance and self-love.

Embrace my Inner Weirdo:

Ecstatic dance is all about being myself, no matter what I look like or how I dance. So, I'm embracing my inner weirdness and letting loose!


The Power of Community:

One of the best things about ecstatic dance is the sense of community. When I'm surrounded by people who are also embracing their weirdness, I feel less alone and more connected to something larger than myself.

I notice some my social conditioning: to exclude myself and to not belong (maybe not for everyone like me....) and can go beyond my habit.


The Dance Floor is my Canvas:

The dance floor is my blank canvas, so let my imagination run wild. Create my own unique moves and express myself in any way I want. I'm a kid exploring the world.


Don't be afraid to experiment:

There are no rules in ecstatic dance, so don't be afraid to experiment. Try new moves, new styles, and new ways of expressing yourself.


The Best Part is the Afterglow:

After an ecstatic dance session, I feel energized, inspired, and positive. I'll also feel a deep sense of connection with myself and with others.

I can't recommend ecstatic dance enough. For me it was powerful tool for self-discovery, empowerment, and connection. If I'm looking for a way to live my most authentic self - it's there on the dance floor.
